FOUNDED
and incorporated in July, 1978, the O.W.S. was formed
by a group
of "charter" Ohio artists who were members of
the American Watercolor Society, or whose works had been
accepted in one of the exhibitions of A.W.S., N.W.S.,
or Watercolor U.S.A., during the period of 1971 to 1978.
THE PURPOSE
of O.W.S. is to advance the stature of watercolor as a major
painting medium, to assist in the education of Ohio residents
in the area of aqueous painting, and to foster a greater
appreciation and interest of both the individual artist
and the general public. To acomplish this, the society sponsors
an annual juried exhibition, watercolor workshops, critiques,
demonstrations and lectures, and publishes a newsletter
which contacts, informs, and shares interests and efforts
in the field of aqueous painting.
THE OWS
is listed a s a tax-exempt, nonprofit educational organization,
incorporated in the State of Ohio. For additional information,
write (OWS, P.O. Box 307354, Columbus, OH 43230) or e-mail
