The Ohio Watercolor Society bestows a number of awards and scholarships every year to deserving artists.
The Gold, Silver and Bronze Buckeye Leaf Awards are given as the top three monetary prizes to honor the excellence of entries in Watercolor Ohio, the Society's annual juried exhibition. The recipients of these awards also receive the corresponding medal.
Several other cash and merchandise awards are given for top paintings in Watercolor Ohio, including the following:

JIM BROWER LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
In 2011, the children of OWS member Jim Brower gave a gift to the Ohio Watercolor Society to create a special award in his name. This award is given annually to a member of OWS for his or her artistic achievements. Information about each award recipient can be found by clicking the artist's name below.
OWS educational efforts include providing scholarships to promising high school students and donating to their respective art departments, publishing a quarterly newsletter, and conducting demonstrations, lectures, and critiques throughout the state. OWS has awarded more than $260,700 to Ohio water media artists and institutions since 1978 through exhibition prizes and scholarships funded with the generosity of individuals, corporations, and art material suppliers.
